Time to Bring Back the Blog?
Years ago when my son was first diagnosed with food allergies, I thought writing a blog may help me cope with understanding the road we had to travel. I wrote a few posts and had great ambitions of where the blog would go...then life hit and the blog drifted away into the depths of the internet. After posting a last year/this year photo of myself today and getting all sorts of questions regarding my "healing diet," I thought of my old blog and wondered just where had I left off... Reading back on a few of my posts from 4 years ago showed me just how far we've come. It also showed me exactly when my food sensitivity struggle began! My last post in 2014 was when my gluten sensitivity was first discovered. Fast forward to 2018 and I am on round two and making it a lifestyle. So maybe it is time to bring back the blog... Maybe people are really interested in how a busy, working mom/wife can eat decent while on the road in some country town and not starve while sitting two hours at soccer practice! I will try to share my meal choices, favorite recipes, short cuts, and the tips and tricks that help me stay on track. When this blog began, it was named for my son. Today, it was renamed because he and I both now have to watch what we eat!
Here is the post that prompted the blog revival and renaming....

I’ve had several people comment to me lately about my weight loss. I haven’t noticed it a ton until today. The picture on the left was Feb 2017, the one on the right is today. Back in October, I was told to begin a strict gluten and dairy free eating plan to help heal my body. For 30 days I cut out gluten, dairy, corn, soy, and grains. I made it 45 days strictly off the gluten and dairy and the past few months I’ve cheated here and there but work daily to maintain my gluten/dairy free eating. The scale only shows me losing 20-25 pounds but the inflammation I’ve lost is immeasurable. The health benefits have been shocking. I’m still dealing with some health issues; however, this new way of eating has helped me tremendously. I always knew what we put in our mouths had a huge impact on us but this photo proves it now. So if you wonder why I eat like I do, my health depends on it! I’m so thankful for friends and family who support me so much in my life. Especially my church family who go the extra mile to make sure I’m not starving at the potluck! This post gained almost 100 likes and 20+ comments... I didn't do it for the likes, I did it so people would understand WHY I eat like I do. Food allergies and sensitivities are hidden. They can't be seen so therefore they aren't always understood. My son's allergies could KILL him. My sensitivities just make me absolutely miserable. No one wants to live in constant pain. Sharing this post hopefully shed some light to friends and family who don't understand why I bring my own meals or turn down foods, maybe it helped someone else realize they too may have a sensitivity, and if anything, it is great motivation for me to continue down this path of feeling better. Today I've felt better than I have in months, physically and mentally. Thank you to all of my family and friends who support me and encourage me. Changing the way you eat and think about food can only be done with an amazing support system! I look forward to sharing my heart and encouraging others along my journey.
